WHAT TO EXPECT LIVING IN CENTRAL EAST AUSTIN
The East 6th and East 7th corridors hold Austin’s most concentrated dining and nightlife outside downtown, a laid-back counterpart to the city center, made for bar-hopping on foot between breweries, galleries, and some of the city’s boldest restaurants. Independent coffee shops and artist studios fill the blocks in between. To the northeast, the Mueller District runs at a different rhythm: a master-planned, mixed-use urban village on the former Robert Mueller Municipal Airport site, with parks, shops, and family-friendly density. The population mixes longtime East Austinites with newcomers, and the neighborhood is still evolving, and still appreciating. Downtown is a 5-10 minute drive, or an easy bike ride down the East 6th corridor.
CENTRAL EAST AUSTIN APARTMENTS, HOUSES & CONDOS:
WHAT’S ON THE MARKET
1920s bungalows are Central East Austin’s foundational housing stock, some faithfully renovated, others original and full of potential. New construction is everywhere: modern single-family builds and East Austin townhomes replacing older structures lot by lot. The apartment inventory is growing fastest of all, from boutique buildings to full-scale complexes, including a wave of luxury apartments in East Austin’s core corridors. East Austin lofts and modern condos cluster in the mixed-use developments along East 6th. Mueller is its own product entirely: townhomes, single-family homes, and condos in a planned community built around parks. East Austin houses for sale span every price point in between.
